Didactic: The program offers a well structured didactic curriculum. All fellows attend weekly lectures on Wednesday morning which includes Journal Club, Morbidity and Mortality Conference, and a core lecture series in Pain Medicine. In addition, all institutions offer daily/weekly didactic sessions. The didactics and clinical experience are designed to prepare the pain fellow for the ABPMR Pain Medicine Certification examination.
Clinical Rotations: The goal of the program is to provide a wide diversity of experience in the field of Pain Medicine in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The ratio of outpatient to inpatient rotations is 1:1. Substantial training in interventional pain procedures and minor surgical procedures (Pumps and Stimulators) will be emphasized. In addition to general musculoskeletal pain disorders, there will be a great deal of exposure to headache and facial pain, palliative and cancer pain and pediatric pain issues.
Staff: The pain fellow will work alongside physiatrists, anesthesiologists, neurologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists and psychologists in obtaining expertise in multidisciplinary pain management.
